Confidentiality
The law protects the relationship between a patient and a psychotherapist and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
Exceptions Include:

Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

If a patient is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim. Every effort is made to keep the patient safe as well.

If a patient intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their coorperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission to secure their well-being.
Since Covid-19, teletherapy has become more mainstream and many people like the convenience. I use a HIPPA-compliant tele-medicine/counseling website that maintains privacy and confidentiality.
I do not use email, text or any non-secure formats to communcate with patients.
